Digital Display Advertising Has Gone the Way of All the Earth

Hi. Welcome to Fusion 360 Studios, I’m Elora
Murray reporting for the Fusion 360 News Network. You know when you’re checking out some of
your favorite blogs or social media sites and you notice one of those annoying banner
ads? “Hey click on this,” or, “If click on this you could win something!” Anyway,
you know what we’re talking about; and digital marketers, this next comment is for you. Stop
the banners. They don’t work. The average person is served over 1700 banner
ads per month. Do you remember any of them? Exactly.
Here are some more numbers for you, the average click rate of display ad is .1 percent. And
8 percent of internet users account for 85% of clicks on display adds. Plus, about 50%
of clicks on mobile ads are accidental. So basically, if you are using banners as a marketing
tool- you might want to change your mind. To further prove our point let’s play a
game. It’s called, “What are the odds you will click on a banner add?” Let the
game’s begin. You are more likely to get a full house while
playing poker than click on a banner add. You are more likely to complete Navy Seal
training than click on a banner add. You are even more likely to summit Mount Everest
than click on a banner add. And what do you think is more likely, having
twins or clicking on a banner add? You guessed it, having twins. Do you see where we are going with
this? You are more liking to get into MIT than click
on a banner add; and finally you are more likely to survive
a plane crash than click on a banner add. So basically, digital display advertising
has gone the way of the earth. That’s all we have for today. I’m Elora Murray with the Fusion 360 News Network. Thanks for watching.
